I guess we might as well start this off with a softball (sort of).
Why are we seeing the phenomenon of "deplatforming" and censorship more and more?
I would cite most notably Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos at Cal Berkeley, Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying at Evergreen College, Lindsay Shepherd at Wilfrid Laurier University, and most recently Alex Jones with YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, for anyone who is unfamiliar with what I'm talking about.
Obviously, I know all these examples (and the dozens of others we could find) are all very different in many ways but they do have in common an unwillingness to engage in anyway with differing views.
It seems that this is becoming more and more prevalent. Is it really or it just perception?
Also, is it possible that there are views that are so obnoxious or seditious that we shouldn't allow those that hold them any opportunity to propagate their ideas?
